That’s so wonderful that you’ve been so loving and supportive to your daughter. I can imagine that it may be fraught with anxiety and insecurity on the adopted mother’s side, but ultimately supportive and so much healthier for the child to know. Yes, I had unexpectedly discovered the secret my family kept. I can only guess why they chose to keep it secret. There’s more to my story — my adoptive grandfather was a doctor at my biological mother’s hospital and he arranged the private adoption. His first grandchild was dying of cancer (my adoptive parents’ first baby) and perhaps he hoped bringing me into their family after such a tragic loss would assuage their grief.
